"The Cuisine of Old St. Augustine"
From the Nation's Oldest City comes to you the finest
gourmet line of datil pepper products. Minorcan Datil
Pepper Products was established 15 years ago. By offering
such sauces and condiments, our hope is to produce a
loyal following of those who only demand the delicious,
sweet heat flavor this little pepper has to offer.
Come on in and visit our store featuring the "original"
datil pepper gourmet sauces. By original we simply mean
that all our products are made with ONLY the datil pepper
which is grown locally. We grow, cook and bottle right
here in St. Augustine, Florida. So if youve been
hearing about this rare and unique little pepper youve
come to the right place! We invite you to try and experience
for yourself the ever so sweet slow burn and know you
will be back again and again. Afterall, were not
just another hot sauce; were 400 years of history!
The Minorcans migrated to St. Augustine in 1777 bringing
with them the seeds of their datil pepper. The datil
pepper is indigenous to the St. Augustine area and was
once thought to only grow here. Therefore, we also consider
it the St. Augustine pepper. Today datil peppers are
still used in the Minorcan cookings of chicken pilau
and homemade sausage.
ABOUT US
We are a family run business celebrating our 15th
year. It began as nothing more than Christmas gifts
for family members. For many years it was simply a "hobby."
Then the realization sunk in that we had something good!
More and more people requested the sauce.
The datil pepper has been a staple in the lives of
Minorcans living here so we decided to name our company
after the culture that is so prevalent in St. Augustine.
I was first introduced to the datil pepper 28 years
ago in the kitchen of my mother-in-law Mildred McQuaig
where she created the most delicious dishes of shrimp
pilau, venison stew, and huge pots of lima beans all
made with a secret ingredient, DATIL PEPPERS.
Our promise to you is to continue to provide high
quality products, using only the freshest ingredients.
We always cook in small batches, which insures the taste
consistency. We hope you enjoy our line and will tell
your friends as we feel this is the best-kept secret
St. Augustine has to offer.
